It takes Two to Tango!

Tango with my partner in crime
Those who know me are well aware of the fact that how much I love to dance! I have been an avid dancer from childhood (like every cultured Bengali girl) and have been professionally trained in Bharatnatyam and Kathak. I have taken part in every dance performance in school and college. So that goes without saying that dance is the soul of my life. As much as I love classical, I have always been fascinated with international dances like Tango and Salsa But never got the oppurtunity to learn. However stars were on my side when I got invited to attend a Tango session and Delhi Milonga last Friday.
To start with, Tango is an Argentine dance form. I am sure you must have seen gorgeous couple poses in Hollywood posters. It is a social dance form and is very sophisticated; not like an exercise. It is gentle and slow and hence very healing. Any age group can indulge in it.
Milonga is a tango social. Anyone who knows Tango, dances. Only Tango music is played. The rules are very simple. The main one being that the couples revolve in an anti clockwise direction. One is not supposed to bump into each other! :D People dance, drink, eat and make merry. Its a perfect evening!
The romantic setting of the Lounge and Bar
The Delhi Milonga was organised in Eros Hotel, Nehru Place which is a fabulous place in itself. The interiors are Victorian style and it immediately transfers you to that era. The Milonga was held in the Lounge bar which was old charm and very sophisticatedly decorated. The wood was dark, there were candles burning and gorgeous paintings hung from the walls. It was as if we had been transported to a Milonga in Argentina.

Kiran giving Tango lessons to hubs
The evening started with Tango lessons by Kiran and Eduardo. I learnt enough steps to click pictures in lovely poses! Then there was a sensual performance by Kiran and Eduardo. They had supposedly never practised on that music before but their chemistry was sizzling! After the tango session, the Milonga started. We couples started dancing, while others indulged in drinks and snacks.

The Delhi Milonga begans!
I wished I stayed there for the entire night but had to leave. It was a rainy night and we had to drive across the city. It was Doctor's Day too and to my husband's utter disappointment, I made him miss the celebrations! I too got upset when I came to know that hubs was voted as the most loved Doctor but since he was not present, his title was given to someone else! Finally I bade my blogger friends goodbye.
